‘Think you know your favourite celebrity? Think again!’
When you think about your favourite actor, do you see them as one of their characters? Playing a role certainly requires a touch of drama and a ton of charisma, but what happens when the cameras stop rolling?
That’s where Matt and Roxy’s Celebrity Side Hustles comes in!
Hosted by actors Matthew Wolfenden and Roxy Shahidi, whose long time friendship can light up a room, Celebrity Side Hustles is a podcast which looks past the professional stardust and investigates the personal passions, hobbies, and causes that occupy the spare time of soap stars, ex-heartthrobs, comedians, singers and more.
The search for what’s ‘real’, was on the agenda when we teamed up with Matt and Roxy in the lead up to their new series and we mirrored that in their press and social campaign, showcasing their true personalities. And let me tell you, it was a blast!
So how do you take the soap out of the stars?
You may recognise Matt and Roxy from their iconic roles in Emmerdale where they spent well over a decade. But beyond the drama of the village lies a whole new world. With David Metcalfe’s unexpected exit and Layla Harding’s notorious limo death, the storyline might have wrapped up, but their journey has just begun.
The professional bond they built saw them team up on writing for dramas like Doctors and Holby, birthed Celebrity Side Hustles, and drew in fans from across the nation to experience more of their creative flare online.
In the world of podcasts, flooded with big egos and endless content-churning, its personality and authenticity that truly make a difference, so it was time to shine a light on their passion for writing, boundless creative spark, and infectious humour.
The heart of Matt and Roxy’s appeal is their friendship. They are the friends who join you at yoga (looking at you, Roxy!) or give you a new vegan recipe to try, the writers who advise your screenplay work, the actors you practice your lines with.
In the press, we focused on what’s next for Matt and Roxy in their on-screen duo capacity. The brilliant collaboration was front and centre in pieces for The Metro, The Daily Mirror, Podcasting Today, Manchester Evening News, and it’s safe to say we’re all excited to see what the future holds for the pair of many a Side Hustle.
Until then, make sure you tune in to the Celebrity Side Hustles podcast, available on Spotify, Apple Podcast, and YouTube.
